This year, the mobile public will have several 5G mobile phones flagshipand most of them will use 5nm and 6nm technology chips .
Over the past three months, severalprocessors have been launched smartphone flagship, all of which support 5G. Even though we thought flagship this year’swas only for chips 5nm and 6nm, Qualcomm has a flagship processor that uses a 7nm manufacturing process (many would call it a pseudo flagship processor).
Since November 2020, the threemakers chip major- Qualcomm, MediaTek and Qualcomm have all released twoprocessors flagship. For now, this is the top processor for asmartphone 5G.

Samsung Exynos 1080 (5nm)
Launched in November 12, 2020, the Exynos 1080 processor incorporates a new CPU architecture core. The chip uses Samsung’s 5nm EUV process as well as 1 + 3 + 4 architecture. It comes with one large 2.8GHz A78 core for peak performance, three 2.6GHz A78 cores for balanced processing, and four A55 2.0GHz medium cores for efficiency.
The chipset also integrates a millimeter wave dual mode 5G. Its single-core performancehas increased by 50%, while itsperformance multicore has almost doubled.
The Exynos 1080 is Samsung’s first mobile processor to use the most advanced 5nm EUV FinFET process technology. This chip uses the latest 5G module from Samsung and supports download speeds of up to 5.1Gbps. At the same time, it supports the Sub-6GHz frequency band and millimeter wave frequency band. Apart from that, it supports WiFi6 and Bluetooth 5.2 technology which improves connectivity.
Exynos 1080 integrates artificial intelligence technology into the ISP, and the high-performance ISP supports sensors up to 200 MP. Its ability also supports up to 6 cameras. Additionally, the chip supports 10-bit color shooting and the ability to directly edit HDR10 + videos.
The Exynos 1080 uses the Mali-G78 GPU from ARM. Under the Manhattan v3 standard, the overall GPU performance has increased 2.3 times. In addition, the exclusive development of Amigo’s power distribution program makes the high-performance gaming experience more durable.

Samsung Exynos 2100 (Samsung 5nm)
Released on January 12, 2020, Samsung recently held aconference online globalwhere it released itsprocessor smartphone Exynos 2100 5nm chip. The Exynos 2100 is Samsung’s first mobile chipset with integrated 5G.
It is based on the 5nm EUV process (Samsung). Compared to previous generation products using the 7nm process, the Exynos 2100 reduces power consumption by 20% and increases overall performance by 10%.
The Exynos 2100 uses an ARM Mali-G78 GPU. The latter increases graphics performance by up to 40%. The chip also supports UFS 3.1 and UFS 2.1 storage. Plus, it can work with camera resolutions up to 200 MP. Currently, the Samsung Exynos 2100 chip has begun mass production. As Samsung’s flagship processor in 2021, the Galaxy S21 series will be thesmartphones firstto come with this chipset.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 (Samsung 5nm)
This chipset latest generationfrom Qualcomm was officially launched on December 2, 2020. As the latest product from the Snapdragon 8 series, Snapdragon 888 integrates Qualcomm’s third generation 5G modem and the -Snapdragon X60 radio frequency system, which supports all major global millimeter waves and Sub-6GHz frequency bands, as well as 5G carrier aggregation, multi-global- SIM card function, Independent (SA) and non-network mode independent (NSA), and shared dynamic spectrum (DSS).
Snapdragon 888 uses 1 x 2.84GHz architecture (latest ARM Cortex X1 core) + 3 x 2.4GHz (Cortex A78) + 4 x 1.8GHz (Cortex A55) architecture. The GPU is Adreno 660 and supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Apart from that, the chip also uses Samsung’s 5nm manufacturing process.
The sixth generation Qualcomm AI engine integrated on the Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform includes the newly designed Qualcomm Hexagon processor, with a performance of 26 trillion operations per second (26 TOPS). In terms of gaming, it integrates the third generation Snapdragon Elite Gaming.
Qualcomm says that this chip brings the most significant performance boost ever made by a Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The device is also equipped with the 2nd generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub which “combines low power always-on AI processing for intuitive intelligent features.”
In terms of camera performance, the Spectra ISP Snapdragon 888 supports a billion pixel level faster processing speed. Users can process 2.7 billion pixels per second to capture photos and videos. It’s about 120 frames per second and each frame is 12 MP. Up to 35% higher processing speed than previous generation platforms.
The flagship processor also comes with the new 6th generation AI Engine. The hexagon processor brings a sizable leap in AI performance, 26 tera operations per second (TOPS) compared to the last generation.

MediaTek Dimensity 1200 (TSMC 6nm)
Chipset launched on January 20, 2021. New flagship from MediaTek The Dimensity 1200 5G SoC uses the TSMC 6 nanometer process. The CPU uses the latest A78 ARM core with a frequency of 3.0GHz.
There are also 3 large A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6GHz and 4 small A55 cores. Officially, the Dimensity 1200’s performance has increased by 22% and energy efficiency has increased by 25%.
MediaTek places emphasis on startup speed and speed of downloading and installing applications. In terms of APU and GPU, the Dimensity 1200 also has a different level of upgrade.
Dimensity 1200 integrates a new generation 5G modem. Officially, chip thisis the first SoC to support 5G high-speed rail mode and 5G elevator mode. At the same time, Dimensity 1200 adopts power-saving 5G UltraSave technology to ensure power consumption under the SA network.
The chip has global 5G band bandwidth support. And MediaTek claimsspeeds downlink in urban areas are 25% faster than competing products.
As for photography, the Dimensity 1200 has AI-speed night shooting capabilities. This greatly speeds up AI computing.
At the same time, the Dimensity 1200 features a super panoramic AI night shooting mode. The single frame progressive HDR video function previously launched on the Snapdragon 888 also appeared on the Dimensity 1200. The AI multi-person blur function can recognize multiple people in real time and blur the background; there’s also a multi-depth smart focus function that allows the screen to instantly become more layered.
In terms of gaming, the Dimensity 1200 is optimized from four aspects, namely network, image quality, control and smart loading. Continuous network function of incoming calls is upgraded to 3.0. In dual card status, one card can be inserted to transmit data. And others can send out communication signals without interfering with each other.
Hotspots can be activated simultaneously while playing games. MediaTek is great for high-speed rails andscenarios gaming other.
In terms ofimage quality game, Dimensity 1200 adds ray tracing technology to allow virtual objects to interact with real-life ambient light and have better reflection and refraction. MediaTek will be working with Tencent Games’ Honor of Kings to make alevel optimization chip-.
The main differences between other chip products, Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 lie in the CPU architecture, GPU and APU capabilities, as well as supported cameras and screen refresh rates.

MediaTek Dimensity 1100 (TSMC) 6nm
The Dimensity 1100 chip uses TSMC’s 6nm process technology. Chispet has four A78 2.6GHz cores and four A55 2.0GHz cores. The device integrates an ARM G77 MC9 GPU and supports dual channel UFS 3.1.
Dimensity 1100 includes a highly integrated 5G modem, using MediaTek UltraSave 5G technology, which has a tremendous energy-saving effect. Apart from supporting the latest connection functions, it also supports multiple generations of connection functions from 2G to 5G, including independent and dependent 5G (SA) architectures (NSA), frequency-sharing duplex (FDD), and 5G operator time-split duplex (TDD). Aggregation (2CC), Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), dual-SIM 5G (5G SA + 5G SA), and true 5G HD Voice (VoNR).

Dimensity 1100 also includes impressive camera functions. It supports a 108 MP camera and integrates an existing MediaTek 3.0 APU, enabling super high-performance and energy-efficient computing.
The chip supports AI camera functions, including AI panoramic night shooting, AI multi-person blur, AI noise reduction (AINR) and HDR functions. The chipset also supports new AI-enhanced video playback functions, including SDR to HDR AI.
Display and Connectivity
Additionally, the Dimensity 1100 also supports 144Hz refresh rate display for crystal clear, delay-free images. There is support for MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 game technology.
The latter includes 5G calling and data concurrency, providing a more reliable connection. Plus, it delivers multi-touch response speed, improving touch screen performance. Thechipset newalso supports ‘ray tracing’ in games mobileand artificial reality applications for more realistic images. At the same time, super hotspots
save power, allowing users to have more time between charges.
Dimensity 1100 supports Bluetooth 5.2 dual-link wireless stereo audio, which allows users to simultaneously send to multiple wireless devices. The chipset also supports true wireless stereo audio, ultra-low latency, and LC3 encoding. It can achieve higher quality and lower latency audio transmission, which is also very energy efficient and can extend the battery life of the headset wireless.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC (TSMC 7nm)
Inaugurated January 19, 2021, the chipset features advanced ARM Cortex-X1 and Cortex-A78 cores and is also based on 5nm nodes. Xiaomi and Samsung have released thesmartphones firstwith this CPU and more to come. Well, Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 870 chipset. This new chip is based on a 7nm node and has a 3.2GHz CPU. This is basically Snapdragon 865 ++.
This new chipset has the model number SM8250-AC and provides the highest clock speed in the mobile world. The main core now runs at 3.2GHz, up from 3.1GHz on 865+ and 2.94 GHz on SD865. Last year’s model was surpassed by chipset Huawei’s latestto hit the market with a main core of 3.13 GHz.
Now, Qualcomm is reclaiming thetitle master overclocking in the mobile segment. For those who like technical specifications, the new Snapdragon 870 uses a Kyro 585 core, which is actually an ARM Cortex-A77 core with a few adjustments from Qualcomm. As mentioned above, the Snapdragon 888 CPU uses the Cortex-X1 and A78 cores. They also run at lower frequencies, and this makes room for the Snapdragon 888+ in the future, who knows?
Once again, Qualcomm is betting on the Adreno 650 GPU to ensure high-end graphics performance. However, it is currently unclear whether Qualcomm has implemented a clock upgrade or some tweaks to make it even better. The Hexagon 698 and Tensor Accelerator feature the same TOP 15 as thechip previous Snapdragon 865. So it’s not big news here as the performance in this segment is probably the same.
SD870 Supports 1440p Display
For display driver, the chipset can run 1440p panels up to 144Hz resolution or 4K up to 60Hz. Just like other high-end offerings, the Snapdragon 870 supports HDR10 +. The Spectra 480 ISP is the same as in the old model, the unit offers support for sensors up to 200 MP, 8K video capture at 30 fps, or 4K at 120 fps.
The chipset is equipped with the same FastConnect 6800 as the vanilla 865. This ensures WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Voice and Adaptive. Interestingly, that’s down from the
Snapdragon 865+ which came with FastConnect 6900, which offers WiFi 6E.
Just like chips otherin Qualcomm’s high-end spectrum, the Snapdragon 870 is not equipped with an integrated 5G modem. Instead, the chipset is paired with the Snapdragon X55 with sub-6 and mmWave support.
